All About Puppies

Puppies are not miniature versions of adult dogs. Although
they will grow up to be adult right now they are very
different physically, socially and emotionally. It is crucial
that you regard your pup as a different animal then the adult
dog. Understanding the differences between them will help
your puppy become a confident well adjusted happy companion
Animal.

Puppies pass through stages of development. For your
purposes in puppy class the critical stage is between six and
twenty four weeks of age. You need to concern yourself with this most critical stage; it is one off rapid emotional and social development. During these critical stages puppies are extremely impressionable.
It is within this period that experiences have an indelible effect
upon the pup and a impact upon their adult dog personality.
The influence of the environment you provide and experiences
will determine that personality.

#3. Provide your pet with correct exercise. Exercise enhances health. Of course, use common sense, but please do exercise your pet regularly if they are able. Running around in the back yard doesn't count as much as going for a brisk walk with you. If your pet has mobility issues, sometimes swimming can be a great alternative to walking because it's non-weight bearing. Of course, cats usually don't really enjoy a swim, but you can get them active by engaging them in play. Exercise your pet every day.

#4. Eliminate grains from your pet's diet. Most grains, in addition to not being nutritionally needed, are contaminated with fungus and their by-products; aflatoxins (one of the most toxic substances on Earth.) Corn is one of the most heavily contaminated. In addition, corn is genetically modified and there are no long-term studies proving that GMO foods are safe. Grains can be difficult for many pets to digest and can upset the normal intestinal balance in their digestive systems.

#5. Avoid dry "kibble" type pet products whenever possible. Most are grain-based and, in addition, cats and dogs are physiologically designed to derive moisture from natural foods. Dry products may contribute to urinary, kidney, skin, digestive and other problems.

#6. Give your pet a good quality probiotic. Remember how the digestive system is one of the biggest parts of the immune system? If it's ever been compromised by drugs (including vaccines) or the many other things in daily life that decrease the number of good gut flora, replenishing the supply of good guys can really help improve your pet's health. (CBS) When elephants retire, many head for the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tenn. They arrive one by one, but they tend to live out their lives two-by-two.

"Every elephant that comes here searches out someone that she then spends most all of her time with," says sanctuary co-founder Carol Buckley. It's like having a best girlfriend, Buckley says - "Somebody they can relate to, they have something in common with."

Debbie has Ronnie. Misty can't live without Dulary. Those are pachyderm-pachyderm pairs. But perhaps the closest friends of all are Tarra and Bella. That would be Tarra the 8,700 pound Asian elephant. And Bella. The dog.

"This is her friend," Buckley says, scratching Bella's tummy. "Her friend just happens to be a dog and not an elephant." "Bella knows she's not an elephant. Tarra knows she's not a dog," Buckley adds. "But that's not a problem for them."

Bella is one of more than a dozen stray dogs that have found a home at the sanctuary. Most want nothing to do with the elephants and vice versa. But not this odd couple.

"When it's time to eat they both eat together. They drink together. They sleep together. They play together," Buckley says. (Read More)

Dachshund & Pink the Pig

This Dachshund is fostering this little piggy named Pink for another mom who couldn't take care of him. He had his eyes closed, but now they are open. He is just a little bigger than her other pups. She loves this little guy as much as the other puppies and she is nursing him back to health. He is the cleanest pig-uppy ever because she licks him all the time.

An amazing Chimp named Anjana

When hurricane Hannah separated two white tigers from their mother, Anjana came to the Rescue. Anjana, a chimp at TIGERS in South Carolina, became surrogate mom and playmate to the cubs, even helping with bottle feeding, according to The Sun). But here's the truly amazing part: Anjana does this all the time, having raised both leopard and lion cubs.
